Who We Are

We are a membership organization comprising of key players in the livestock industry in Kenya. Our main members are feed millers and suppliers of all categories of suppliers of ingredients, machineries and valuable technologies and services used in the feed business in Kenya.

AKEFEMA as a membership organization in organized into five broad geographical regions covering the entire country. Its operations are structured into committees that deliver specific mandates relevant to the work and sustainability of the association. The committees drive and facilitate various platforms to enhance, protect and ensure the present and future interests of the industry.

To realize our mission of promoting a vibrant business environment that draws member benefits through cooperation and coordination of all policy stakeholders and value chain actors for delivery of quality feedstuffs and related services, we strive to:

  • Work with members to stimulate a business-friendly environment and facilitate ease of doing profitable animal feed business in Kenya.
  • Pool together our membership expertise in the animal feed industry to deliver quality feeds
  • Lobby, liaise and cooperate with all other feed stakeholders locally and internationally to grow the industry.
  • Provide management information to members and other industry players.
  • Influence and manage factors that have a bearing on feed cost and productivity.
  • Inform industry players of threats and opportunities in the industry, and formulate appropriate responses.

Currently we are focused on:

Policy & Advocacy:

act on behalf of, and represent, the animal feed industry on various platforms and committees to enhance, protect and ensure the present and future interests of the industry.

Self-Regulation:

To act responsibly within the food chain, enhancing self-regulation as a mechanism to decrease risks to consumers, increase public trust, and combat negative public perceptions to the feed industry.
